Fergus Kavanagh you wrote: Your card seems right. see the attached photos. If you want more, ask now, as I have the mount at home at the moment.
The museum is The Cavan and Leitrim Railway Museum, in Dromod, Co.Leitrim, Ireland.
Did you get your RAF Mk1 working?
Thank you for the photos Fergus. I’m relieved the azimuth ring scale turned out as predicted. Can I push my luck further and ask if the turning the azimuth handle makes the azimuth scale go round and if the sextant, once up, drags the disc with viewing window in it around?
The RAF Mk1/KSH0203 sextant seems a brief excursion into an all-electric sextant. I’m not sure if mine, which I can barely see through, doesn’t move because it’s jammed up, or because I need to apply a hefty source of 28V. I can’t get too worked up about it. The RAF Mk2B is my nostalgia-trip sextant, and the Kollsmans have the nicest smell when you open the box. DaveP
