    Yes to both questions. The three photos attached here should illustrate what you want. The Mk1 could probably be got going if the control switches and limit switches are of the unsealed variety common at that time. I would hesitate to put 28V (probably would have to be dc only), in case the limit switches malfunctioned, which might drive it to self-destruction. I must admit I'd love to get my hands on one to see inside it. My surmise is based on the circuit diagrams only. Could be fun. My friend who owns the museum exhibits, (707-320 cockpit and DC-7 forward fuselage and cockpit) is on the lookout for one.
