The dome is called the astrodome and was standard on all multi-engine bombers and transports in WWII and thereafter until the adoption of pressurized aircraft when the periscopic sextant became issue.
The common aircraft sextants used in WWII AAF astrodomes were the A-10, A-10A, and AN 5851-1 (Bendix A-14) which could be hung by a mount, The USN used the AN 5854-1 (Bausch and Lomb) in addition to the Bendix A-14 also which could be hung by a mount. Early in the war, hand held bubble sextants were used such as the Pioneer varieties (A-5 and A-7), the Bausch and Lomb varieties (A-6 and A8-A) and the Link A-12.
Post war astrodomes held the Bendix A-15 and the Kollsman bubble and pendulous mirror sextants.
