Tom, you talked about learning celestial in the 1980s. Was that at a maritime academy? Did you do sights on a school ship back then?

yes - NY Maritime @ Ft. Schuyler. 3 Summer sea terms were aboard the TS Empire State V. We were issued sextants (well used, worn out,old) and usually had a routine for morning stars, two morning sun shots, noon fix, a couple of afternoon running fixes and evening stars during the Atlantic crossings.
