Tom,
Always good to have another Privateer aboard (aka. Domer). I'm class of 80 so did my summers on the T.S. Empire State V in the late 70's. We could have been issued the exact same US Navy mark 2 sextant. They were old clunkers but got the job done. We may have had the same Profs.-Hess, Parnham, Sembler, Paulus, Dooley, Thor.

yes - NY Maritime {at} Ft. Schuyler. 3 Summer sea terms were aboard the TS Empire State V. We were issued sextants (well used, worn out, old) and usually had a routine for morning stars, two morning sun shots, noon fix, a couple of afternoon running fixes and evening stars during the Atlantic crossings.
