I think we have to be wary of that smartphone version of Stellarium. Part of the problem with open-source projects is that they can be "forked" (and sometimes users, too, in the process) meaning that there isn't just one animal called Stellarium, but rather a small flock of beasts descended from the main line of the family tree. There is a brief note here: http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Android_port explaining that mobile Stellarium is not part of the main Stellarium project. Also I have found that mobile Stellarium on my device crashes so frequently that it's no fun to use. I'm not saying we have to treat mobile Stellarium as a complete unknown, but it does need to be separately tested to validate its calculations and capabilities; the product name alone is no guarantee.
