I attened the Winter Phase of Mountain Warfare School at Camp Eathan Allen in the Mid-1980's. We has standard lensatic tritium U.S. Army compasses. We also had Thommen Analog Altimeters that were either 5,000 Meter or 6,000 Meter Type. We could determine our hight above sea level and the weather that was coming in, as well. We conducted day and night land navigation courses. Two of each, were graded. I own a Thommen 5,000 Meter Altimeter and and the same Compass today. The Thommen is broken but the compass still works. I will pass them on to my next generation family member that is going to be a "Game Warden", soon!
