Peter,

I agree that it would be nice for Frank to write up his method and
publish it in a peer-reviewed journal.  I disagree, however, on
relying on the fact of publication in a peer-reviewed journal in
assessing the value of an idea. It has only tangential bearing on the
intrinsic value of an idea, in my opinion.  There's plenty of crap
published in peer-reviewed journals, and some gems that never see the
light of day in same.  Counting peer-reviewed publications is a
reliable, objective metric of scholarly production, but more for bean
counters than scholars.  We should be able to vet Frank's idea very
well right here in our own little sandbox.
