Doug,
I am missing severel days of replies here, so you may have probably already received a reply to your query about this book, "LATITUDE : How American Astronomers Solved the Mystery of Variation".
I haven't read the book, but Barnes and Noble has two trade reviews and two individual reviews, mostly well written that may help you with your decision. B&N shows that you can read the first chapter, but I am unable to download it from their site. B&N and Amazon both state the book is 168 pages, but the table of contents shows the index starting at page 243. Published Nov 2002.
Uh, I hate to bring this up, Doug, but I feel you do owe me something for this, since you have cost me nearly $20 in this matter. Only because of your mentioning it, am I ordering the book. Now if I can just remember the names of the other two guys that recommended books here recently, that I am also ordering...
Thanks to all,
Marvin
