In the Special Sights section of his book Celestial Navigation in a GPS Age, John Karl provides a simple derivation of a 5-step direct solution to double altitude problem. You get latitude at step 4 and only need to know the difference in LHA's (GHA's or RA's) of the two bodies being observed,
