Re: Latitude and longitude around noon

     Hello all,

I have been thinking about this data and how difficult it is to get a Lon. from a noon sight.  But, I also came to the conclusion that LAN must be befor the max Hs by several seconds.

When I do a LAN set of sights, I keep incresing my Hs untill I see the sun starts going down.  At that point I stop turning the knob, mark the time, and record the sextant reading.  The time of noon must be before the sun starts going down.

I figure from Frank's set noon was about 1700:20 - I say about based on my style and timing. YMMV.

    John H.
