    Sorry, but I don't have the authority to give permission to reproduce parts of the book. Only the publisher can do that.

    Any star fix that is correct except for the observation UT, gives the correct latitude, but incorrect longitude. In that case, a lunar LOP taken at (essentially) the same ship's time will either lead or lag the star fix. Using the star-fix latitude and the moon's known LHA rate, interpolating the UT of the observed moon's altitude between two calculated moon altitude's, gives the correct time of observation (and hence the longitude, if the lunar LOP is recomputed).

    As pointed out earlier by Gary, this is not as accurate as the standard Lunar sight, but at least you don't have to be a loony navigator.
