    Hello Greg,
    Thanks for the reply. My Link-A12 bubble octant is pre-WW2 no cross hair, manual averaging through marking the sights with a pencil mark on a plastic drum which is also used for changing the angle.
    My normal accuracy target would be around 5-6 miles, typical of air navigation fixes. I tried this accuracy level many times and achieved it even in the latest round of sights from the front seat of my Stearman.
    The point of the exercise is to determine, for my specific octant, what is the let's call it the "optimal" number of sights taken in a row to achieve that level of accuracy, already I have seen some improvements by doubling the sights number from the first to the second LOP, however this is more an empirical observation as I don't have enough data yet. I was hoping that someone on the net had already done the exercise and has already come to some conclusions, with a bubble sextant of course.
