Re: Leap second on December 31

I had not thought of the implications of this until about an hour ago.  It was announced on my local radio station that the 1300 (zone -13) time  signal would have an extra pip. I am guessing that the 2017 Air Almanac was published before the leap second decision. Does this mean that in 2017 the sun will be one second (time) ahead of the air almanac?

Given the accuracy of my observations this probably does not matter (for me). There is typically a six or seven second count between taking the sight and noting the time. I am confident in the accuracy of my count over this short period but there could be a one second error in reading the time on the phone app (clocksync). Acccuracy depends on when the digital display on the app ticks over and where I am in the counting cycle.

My times are probably accurate to two seconds.
