Attached is a PDF from Davis to get you started. Begin with the local apparent noon (LAN) observation of the Sun to determine latitude. Become familiar with the concept of latitude sailing to a destination. Follow this with longitude determination by equal altitudes of the Sun. I would pick up a Davis Mk 15 sextant next then move to a metal sextant if you catch the celestial navigation bug.
