I got the 1803 Almanac out of the safe storage, and worked that "A" lunar. Got a longitude of 59 degrees, 36 minutes west. Must have been a wet camp, eh?
I believe this pretty well agrees with what you found. I did everything the old fashioned way, and didn't bother with mean time. Used a local apparent time of 11:38:38 PM, Dec. 2nd.
Apparent altitude of the moon's center: 29 degrees, 36'.
Apparent altitude of the star: 66 degrees, no minutes.
Moon's HP 57.'1
Augmented semidiameter: 15.'67
Don't take my numbers too seriously. I was in a hurry, and tired. We just got back from a 10 mile hike, with about 2500 feet of uphill in it. Janice and I are trying to get back in shape so we can do more of the things we like.
I'm having second thoughts about posting the 1803 Almanac pages. Let's wait until you hit on a good set of L&C observations and post the Almanac pages for that.
