Re: Linear regression and other tools

    Dear Antoine,

    Thank you for the comments.

By calling a regression "linear" what do you mean? Is it an (a·x + b), i.e., a straight line, or just "some line drawn between the points"?

Since HC has the Law of Cosines "under the hood" - my guess is that either the QuadReg (a·x2 + b·x + c) or the SinReg (fitting a sinusoid curve) should be used. The actual name of the topic is by Mr Reed who renamed it to something more understandable - which I generally approve but question the "linear" term there.

I'm definitely an "armchair navigator", not even that, I'm a "novice armchair navigator", so any real-life argument about taking sights of a body in a raw vs interleaving sights is hugely welcome. Living at 60°N I am so accustomed to our lengthy twilights that I often forget how really fast it darkens near Equator...

    Warm regards,

    Tony
