Little Moon, big Venus, or a reflection?
    From: David Pike

We went for a bike ride this afternoon and stopped at a country hotel for a cup of tea.  While waiting for my tea to cool, I picked up the March 2017 volume of National Geographic and began reading an article about famous trees.  What caught my eye was a crescent shaped object in the not quite dark sky above a winter photograph of the 9/11 survivor pear tree.  Once home, I managed to find it on the www.  Go to http://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2017/03/wisdom-of-trees/ ; go to ‘Pear ‘Survivor Tree’ | 9/11 Memorial, New York, New Yorkand look at photo 4/4.  Is it just the optics making the Moon look small, Venus look big, or just a reflection?  Alternatively, is it a perfectly normal photo of a crescent Moon, whereas many photos utilising the Moon in the background have it artificially enhanced?
