    Living on the Equator
    From: Lu Abel

    Yesterday's solstice made me think:

Suppose I lived on the Equator:

Then I'd have not one but two Winter Solstices every year -- one on December 21st (roughly) as the sun reached its southernmost and another on June 21 when the sun reached its northernmost travel.

I would also have two Summer Solstices where the sun is directly over me and my day is the longest.   They would be on March 21 and September 21 and therefore also Equinoxes.

Hmmm, in fact if I lived anywhere between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, I'd have two Winter Solstices, I'd have two Summer Solstices, and two Equinoxes.   WoooHooo -- take that you folks who dwell north or south of 23.5 degrees!
