Here's a comparison of the tables that I created years ago, and continue to use, in my "Celestial Navigation in the Age of Sail" class and also the corresponding table from the 1977 edition of the goverment-issue American Practical Navigator tables. Naturally, the latter was (and is) a relatively conservative publication so it's no suprise that these "old fashioned" tables with "ten added" were still in print as late as that. For my class, of course, we're duplicating methodologies from earlier decades. Notice that I head the columns with the arguments for the time sight problem rather than the name of the trig function (we don't need tan/cotan but the others are all there). That's easier in every sense for the specifics of the class.
