    My neighbor has a rather large collection of original nautical logs and charts from the 1800s.

    This afternoon we tried to plot the course of some ship (name unknown) making a round-trip from Liverpool to Galveston and back. (There was some remark in the Remarks section about the Captain being relieved of his command!)

    My (embarassing) ignorance is what exactly the standard log headings mean? Some of it is obvious, I admit.)
