Let's start a dedicated thread for DX time-signal reception!
As an old-time DIY/HAM enthusiast now interested in the Emergency Navigation topic - I'd be glad to build an instrument for audio reception of the SW time signals.
I'd stay away from any home-brew "detectors" - for the sake of robustness and stability. Only a modern Schottky diode as a detector, and, probably, solar-powered rig if we go for superheterodyne scheme.
