While in London last week I took the opportunity to see the Ships, Clocks & Stars exhibition. What an amazing collection they have pulled together from diverse sources. On display are the Longitude Act itself, a letter from Newton on methods to determine longitude, Harrison's chronometers H1 to H5 all in one place, Maskelyne's observations at sea, his stylish observing suit, Cook's sextant, bullet weight, horn cup and coconut used by Bligh for rationing on the jolly boat and much more. Mind blown!
