Some local knowledge recommendations for any vistors to Greenwich 300 Longitude anniversary:
1) either take the tube underground/light railway, an adventure in it's own right. (done it several times. Only suggest once.)
2) or, if weather clement, (not always likely in our misty, moisty Island at any time) ,take train to Waterloo, walk 5-10 minutes to London Eye, see London on the Eye like you've never seen it before, then walk 5 minutes to fast ferry service down the Thames to Greenwich, visit the longitude exibition like the various King Georges would have done, , stand astride the zero meridian, photograph family members same, call in to see the H clocks, Walk 5 minutes to the Cutty Sark, the finest tea clipper built (albeit recontructed after fire, but now brilliant). find a good restaurant and enjoy London. Job done!
