    Lars,

    Thank you very much for doing this solution. I have printed your work and the appropriate almanac page and am working through it and will then try some of my own simulated examples before getting out the theodolite. I wonder if it might be possible to simulate the sighting with Stellarium and then solve for the longitude as you did. Perhaps I could have someone set Stellarium to an unknown to me longitude, "make" the observations, and then solve it the way you did and check the Stellarium location setting? I'll have to think that through a bit.
