Longitude "per AC"?

A colleague doing some research with whaling logbooks from the 1820s has noticed some examples of longitude recorded as "per AC", while other recordings indicate "per observation" or "per lunar observation". The majority of recordings show no source.
I feel like this is something obvious I'm overlooking or just forgetting, but what does "per AC" refer to?
