A good point about measuring the sun's SD. It would give me a quick and easy check of my measuring technique.
The SD is currently 15.7'. My measurements were 31' upper and 31' lower. This gives an IE of 0 and a SD of 15.5'. It seems that I am measuring too low which is consistant with the intercepts.
Of course it could be the sextant that is at fault. I do not have a certificate for it.
Further sights will have to wait. There is thick cloud with a cold southerly and rain outside. We have just lit the wood burner and I am not worried about my position, a luxury that the ancient mariners did not have.
