When doing observations with a body and horizon, it may be easier to invert the sextant, sight along the tube to locate the target body,look through the scope and center the body, then bring the substantially larger horizon up to the body. Once in rough alignment, flip the sextant. For point sources and the moon, perhaps bringing the moon to the point source then flipping the sextant to the most comfortable position (if necessary) might make sense (At least on paper ;-) Bill B.
