Lunar eclipse observations?

Did anyone watch the lunar eclipse last night? SKUNKED by clouds AND rain here!
I caught a brief glimpse before the eclipse. That gave me another idea for a modern and slightly more difficult method to get the longitude during the eclipse. At the time of the beginning/end of the partial eclipse (Moon entering/leaving true shadow), measure the MOON'S altitude with a sextant! Even though fainter stars are difficult to see with the Full Moon out, the Moon is not a problem if it's vis at all!! It's slightly more difficult because of the normal Moon altitude correction and interpolation for GHA+Dec. But that's normal probs!!
