I found it. The book The voyages of William Baffin, 1612-1622 is free on Google books, downloadable and searchable. He made two observations, once estimating the distance by measuring the asimuths and altitudes of Sun and Moon, another by observing the Moon meridian passage. Not surprisingly, this gave the error of several degrees. So this can be hardly counted as the "first successful Lunar observation". Parry indeed confirmed the accuracy of Baffin's observations, but not of the Lunars; he confirmed te accuracy of his tides observations:-) So much about accuracy of Wikipedia, and of the history writers who don't really understand what they write about:-) Alex.
