Frank, Thank your advise again. Yes, I read French, I downloaded Mendoza and he is on my reading list. I have not tried Mendoza yet, but of the things I read so far I find Chauvenet explanations most comprehensible, maybe because he was a mathematician, as I am, and writes in the style I am acustomed to:-) Speaking of downloading spreadsheets, I don't think I need another piece of "ready software" besides your web site. And I am not using Excel or other Microsoft products: all my machines run Unix or Linux. Alex.
