I emailed most everyone who I felt might be interested some weeks ago, but I thought I should bring it up again in a public message. August 10-11 at Mystic Seaport, I'm running a workshop/seminar on some aspects of lunars with a focus on some oddities, certain mathematical details, and aspects of history that are less well-known. Anyone considering attending should be reasonably familiar with the basic concept of lunars already, but even with no background, if you like the "hard stuff" then you're welcome to attend!
Quoting my website:
"Learn to shoot and clear "lunars", long considered the ultimate test of a celestial navigator. Challenging and intricate, lunars are also a window on the fascinating early history of navigation. Note that this session (Aug. 10-11, 2019) will be a Lunars Workshop, half to two-thirds will be drawn from my standard lunars class and taught by me while the remainder will be run as a seminar covering special topics including, for example, a group analysis of lunar observations made in the Grand Canyon late in the 19th century. If you have a special topic which you would like to present, please let me know..."
