So skip the altitudes! This was sometimes done historically (using altitudes calculated from the DR), but more to the point, for modern practice you can forego the observed altitudes and allow any app (including my online web app) to calculate them for you from your known location while you're learning to shoot the lunar distance angle itself. When you work out the bugs with that process, you can always come back "later" and try for complete lunars where you shoot altitudes, too.

Thanks for that. I wondered why your app said "Leave Blank to Calculate" for the altitudes (-;  It will make things easier in a few hours time if the weather cooperates.

One of my telescope tubes is missing. For sun sights I sometimes use a sighting tube and sometimes binoculars with one objective covered. I think the magnification is 2X. Maybe I will try the binoculars tonight. Obviously I need a new sextant but I probably cannot justify both that and a reconditioned A10 from Celestraire (which I am very tempted to buy).

Several times in the past few hours I have tried to send a message about last night's lunar results. I keep getting a "Temporarily Unavailable" message but other messages have been sent on first attempt.
