Yes folks a MAC sextant is pretty much identical to my Simex Mariner which is pretty close to a Tamaya Jupiter the major difference being the frame and the Simex's polarized filters and the various accessories of scopes(7x35, 4x40 star scope, and inverted crosshaired scope) and filters. Lots of accessories which add up to to lots of money if bought seperately! I really got some package deal! The Simex Mariner is an absolute joy to have and in my opinion I wouild venture the " perfect sextant" for me.The micrometer vernier reads to 0.1 min precision and for Lunar distance obs makes short work of them! The MAC appears in an old " Baker and Lyman" nautical instrument catalog pg 83 catalog nos 210771,718,716,715,713 the different nos denoting the scopes. I will try to send page as attachment and also would like to hear from other owner users.
