Hi Noell,
The custom mount is attached to a levelling head, which is then attached to the transit tripod. The levelling head has 4 screws 90 degrees apart, which is how the sextant bubble is centered. The attached photos show the mount attached to the leveling head, and the cam lever that moves the locking bar against the sextant body. I have two MK IXA's, and the one used to make the mount fits such that the entire swing of the cam lever is needed to lock it, but the other one just barely fits in the recess!
