I’m sorry Ed.  I have no idea, but I came across this https://airandspace.si.edu/stories/editorial/twenty-years-gps-and-instrument-flight by Roger Connor, which quotes 1994 for certified use.  Earlier models might have been used in an uncertified capacity before that.  E.g. commercial hand held GPS units were available, at a price, from 1989.  I wouldn’t think certified use came in with the introduction of a new aircraft model.  As GPS was relatively simple to fit, I would have thought it came in initially as a retro-fit to existing aircraft.
