A wonderful idea. I was already planning in my mind finding suitable tubing to make a reasonable working model. It should be possible I would have thought. Obtaining suitable thin aluminium tubing to diameters required I would not expect to be difficult. The scales can be printed onto paper or clear plastic sheet. Mr friend Peter Martinez is working on a programme which wil do this accurately and to any size. I have already thought about various methods for locking the tubes as with the German version. I have a lathe and milling machine facilities and am willing to join in such a project. I am not interested in profit, and would not think it worth considering it as there cannot be many who would ultimately want such a curiosity of navigation. (Though who knows?). If it 'took off' then bulk parts could be made to order from engineering firms with automated machinery. It would be nice to do as a project simply for the sake of it. If nothing else it would give people something else to do other than going out mugging old ladies for their handbags. Douglas Denny. Chichester.
