     Tony,

I agree with Brad that when using electronic devices that decimal degrees is easier.  When using my hand held calculator is is easy to add, subtract, multiply, and divide without stoping and use the answer.  The only time I need to convert to degrees-minutes is if I plot on a paper UPS.

The US Navy Obseratory program MICA gives data in decimal degrees as does the Jet Propelsion Lab's Horizon web site..  I have not bought a real, paper NA for a long time.

When I write a computer program ( in BASIC ) it is for my own use so the output does not need to look like the more common degrees-minute format.

    John H.
