Re: Message Numbers: Love 'em or Lose 'em?

Keep the message numbers, for the following reasons-
They provide an easy way to refer to a particular message. When
discussions move fast, there can be more than one contribution from
the same author on the same thread in the same day. The message number
provides an easy way to distinguish between them, when needed.
It's a good way to be certain that no messages are being lost, or
unduly delayed.
When received in UK, messages arrive with different transit times.
Sometimes, I will get a reply to a posting before reading the posting
itself. Mesage numbers help to put them into a sensible order.
It would be best, for sorting, if they could be appended to the end of
the threadname rather than the start, or perhaps even within the
message, as a prologue. If that's really impossible, it's a pity. But
keep the numbers anyway.
