Alex, it's a question of which of the two outside arms is capable of closing with the center arm (0°) and which can only close to about 10°-11°. Holding the instrument with the legs pointing away from you If the two on the left can close completely (0°), then its "left-handed." If the two on the right can close completely (0°), then it's "right-handed." Why being able to set angles smaller than 10°-11° on the "disfavored" side would be necessary or important enought to justify having both instruments available is still an open question.
