    Frank's remark about navigators recording multiple longitudes reminded me of a site/project that I stumbled upon just the other day...transcribing ships' logs for Zooniverse. I tried my hand at Ancient Greek on fragments of papyrus many years ago, with little success,  but this looks much easier. Something similar was done in 2012? Here's an announcement from today:
