The gell material I'm using, 2 different colors, are a dark blue and a dark orange, somewhat darker than the colored plastic sun shields furnished with the Davis AH. I also use the sextant sun shades, and can wear 100% UV blocking sun glasses while doing sextant shots, so I would think that I have ample eye protection. Thanks much for the thought anyhow, knees and other parts are replaceable,I don't think that eyes are, at least not yet.
I will try to look into the question of UV/IR protection such as might be provided by the gell material I'm using.
