I was in St. John's, Newfoundland on the weekend for a Power and Sail Squadron meeting at the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club. It was a beautiful cloudless night. A local couple drove me up to Signal Hill at 10 pm to look out over the Harbour and Atlantic from that amazing historical site, where among many other things nautical, Marconi had made the first trans-Atlantic wireless transmission in 1901. List members might recall that I have been enthusing about Jupiter this past week, as he taught me to do proper lunars. On the way up the hill in the dark, the moon and Jupiter straddled lit-up Cabot Tower on top of Signal Hill, all three right against a jet-black sky. That morning I had stupidly decided to leave my camera at home, to save a half-pound of weight. Dumb, dumb, dumb...
