    MESSAGES
Mailing List messages travel in "packets", there is no guarantee that the
entire message will go as one packet. The packets travel via
various internet servers to their destination address. They will be held at
some point prior to delivery until the message packets are complete
then delivered. A glitch ANY WHERE in the path will stop delivery. Most
glitches happen in winter. Any kind of a voltage spike in the system
as the message travels can alter the message's code and stop it, or send it
    into electron heaven.

    SUBSCRIBER REMOVAL FROM LIST
When messages are not accepted at the intended mail address they are
bounced back to the sender. In navigation-l it is the address listed
as owner of the list. Who then determines what to do to correct the problem.

Bounced subscribers are and removed from the list for the following
reasons. There will be a BOUNCE message for each message from
    Nav-L to the address.
            1. The addressee has a mailbox that has a quota and it is full (usually
    the FREE Email addresses).
            2. The addressee went on vacation closed his mailbox but did not signoff
    from navigation-l.
            3. There is a problem with the addressees' ISP and messages are bouncing.
            4. The addressee changes ISP or closes his address without signingoff from
    navigation-l

The owner of the list is responsible for maintaining the list. No magic
program exists that determines who should and should not be removed.
I usually TRY to wait 5 days before deleting an address. But every message
to that closed address from Nav-L generates a bounce message. And
it takes time to keep track of each one.

There is NO way for the an Email list or any server of knowing when
someone, dies, change address, or fail to renew their ISP. The internet and
the Email system can not generate information it can only disseminate it.

If you want your messages handled in a special way, it is YOUR
responsibility to set it up for your self. There is no magic clairvoyant
    program.

It is the responsibility of the Navigation-L SUBSCRIBER to follow the
protocol of the Email list to keep it running smoothly. That means
READ and FOLLOW the !@%&X! Nav-L *WELCOME* message.

                           WELCOME TO NAVIGATION-L
                  THE NON-ELECTRONIC NAVIGATION EMAIL LIST

                    <>

    INTRODUCTION
Navigation-L is a list primarily dedicated to the study and discussion of
all methods and techniques of the art of non-electronic navigation. Our
aim is to practice and study the traditional navigation techniques.
All topics involving non-electronic navigation are acceptable. Notices
about electronic navigation are acceptable, but prolonged discussions
should be taken off line. The list is open to all levels of navigation
knowledge from beginners to experts. We hope that you participate in the
    discussions on Navigation-L.

    HOW TO USE THE LIST
For sale posts, among list subscribers, are permitted on an occasional
basis, NOT from a commercial business.

Post messages to navigation-l@listserv.webkahuna.com. Off topic
non-navigation subjects should be taken offline.

When quoting a message, quote sparingly! Quote only enough to make your
reply intelligible to those that may not have seen the original message.
You don't need to quote an entire message to say "Me too". Naturally
bathroom words are not acceptable among civilized people.

PLEASE use text format in your messages not HTML.

MESSAGE ATTACHMENTS -- DO NOT post any attachments to the list!

View/send all message attachments from the Nav-L web page or via the
       addresses listed below.

When going on vacation/Holiday or leaving for an extended time set your
Navigation-L mail to postpone or for the period of your absence.
Mail addresses bouncing from the list for more than a week will be deleted
    from the list.

We highly recommend that you read and save the acceptance message from
listserv@listserv.webkahuna.com. It contains information on using the
    listserv.
