Hi, I am a retired senior chief of the Navy of Colombia . I was aboard a frigate for 13 years from 1988 to 2001. I saw the change in Satellite Navigation GPS . But in my early years as vigia, I really enjoy identifying stars. Some years after, as a Quatermaster I had a very profesioal CO that encourage his officers to practice CN. some years after I was asigned as instructor of Navigation in officers School Navy. Finally, I am convinced that helpful of the tecnology but a true navigator has to be sure that the GPS is a double-edged sword and the use and practice of de CN is part of his reliability and essence.
