Frank, I have never used c. nav on a boat but have used it in the air. When I first started flying in the '60 it was a requirement. Over the years I-nav then GPS took over ( as you know ) but I still liked the feel of c-nav. I even would carry a Kollsman sextant sometimes on a long flight over the states. ( USAir ). Now that I am retired I do not do much flying, but I still shoot a LAN in my backyard or take my Davis 15 to a large lake or river and shoot the sun.
I think like a lot of folks on the forum that there is no need for c-nav but on some level, late at night, over the Pacific I was a cousin to Cook or Magellen.
Now, if the flood ever comes to Nebraska and Noah need a navigator, my skills are sharp.
