    Re: MonViso, Lady Moon again with a Basilica Nav Puzzle
    From: Geoff Hitchcox

    Thank you for such an interesting Puzzle Kermit.

    Here is my working to find the Azimuth of the Moon to match the Azimuth from the Basilica Superga to Monte Viso.

    ======================================

    Dome of Superga Basilica (ACME/Google Maps)

    45.0807 N

     7.7675 E

    Monte Viso (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Viso)

    44.6675   N

     7.091667 E

    Bearing: Basilica Dome --> Monte Viso

    (http://edwilliams.org/gccalc.htm)

    229.549 (WGS84)

    229.453 (Spherical Earth)

    "Lady Moon" Azimuth from Dome of Superga Basilica (JPL Horizons)

    Date__(UT)__HR:MN:SC.fff, , ,Azi_(r-app), Elev_(r-app),        TDB-UT,

      2023-Dec-15 17:53:54.000, ,m, 229.548902,     2.062694,     69.183428,

    So perhaps the photographer's time (17:52), is about 2 minutes SLOW !

    Reciprocal Bearing from Superga Basilica Dome:

    49.549 degrees at 2.0 Km

    45.092375 N

     7.786833 E

    ======================================

    Kermit, I could not find a position along the above 2Km line from the Basilica to the "Tetti Coggiola" area that would have the height to explain the photo taken. The image appears to be taken at a height matching the main roof line of the Basilica. I wonder if it was a drone, but could that carry the necessary optics? for "Monte Viso" to appear so clear at a distance of 70.43Km from the Basilica. An amazing lens must have been used - or was it a composite photo?

    It is a stunning image anyway.

    I will look forward to your answers Kermit -  for me to learn more about doing such similar puzzles.

    Regards, Geoff Hitchcox, Christchurch, New Zealand.
