    It's a good thing I ask, because I didn't think that the horizon is only visible with such a high percentage of illumination ! I rather thought that higher than about 25% would be sufficient. I understand that local conditions, azimuth, and moon phase are important.

    Do you mean "...closer to the Moon's azimuth is better." is closer to the horizon instead of high in the sky, where I think you REALLY get a better (with Clear Skies), larger overview over the water, albeit with less light output.

    I will then give an average of at least about 50% at Az. near the Horizon, and about 70% minimum at higher Az. For "Pre-Calculations" as "a Standard" !
