I would say that it is better to do fewer books
but with better quality. (And this does not only
apply to books:-)
My other point was that existence of a poor digitalization
of a book may discourage others from digtitalizing the same book.

No, in general I do not think so:-)
I said "unfortunately" (for me) but I did not say "wrong".
(I bought the file of the book I needed for $25 from Mystic
Seaport museum, and I think it was worth the money,
and I was glad to give some money to this museum).
