Hi Kermit,
Thank you very much for running the sights and getting the results. It is always a learning experience to see all the details you add to the conversation.
I will be in Argentina for a while, so in the next few days with full moon, I am going to do another lunar, this time at night against Spica that would be around 70 degrees apart. I will use the A12 bubble sextant for the real altitudes of the Moon and Spica and the Mark II for the lunar distance.
I have an open question for the group: If instead of taking lunar sights at a fix location, we are sailing at around 6 knots (or at any speed for that matter). Do we need to apply any bearing and distance correction like with we would do by advancing the line of position ?
Thanks !
Martin (from Argentina)
